All five seasons of Jane The Virgin, starring Gina Rodriguez and Justin Baldoni, will be leaving Amazon Prime Video in less than a month - and fans are devastated
CommentsThe series that viewers are hailing as the "best ever" is due to depart from Amazon Prime Video in less than a month. Jane The Virgin, featuring Gina Rodriguez and It Ends With Us star Justin Baldoni, aired from 2014 to 2019.
The romantic comedy telenovela narrates the tale of Jane Villanueva who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant as a virgin after a doctor mistakenly artificially inseminates her during a routine checkup.
As distressing and shocking as that experience might be, Jane then had to grapple with the reality that the sperm donor is her married boss, Rafael, at the hotel where she works, leading to an uncomfortable love triangle between her employer and her fiancé Michael, portrayed by Brett Dier.
Narrated by Anthony Mendez, the comedy tackled cultural and familial bonds, grief, faith, motherhood and female empowerment.
The show also received widespread acclaim for its representation in highlighting the diversity and intricate issues surrounding immigration and the experiences of the Latin-American community, reports the Express.
In an extraordinarily rare achievement, all five seasons of Jane The Virgin have garnered perfect Rotten Tomatoes scores of 100%.
"I loved this show I cried I laughed I was surprised it opened so many doors of emotion it was the best thing I have ever watched," one viewer enthused.

It has all of the telenovela classics but still contains its unsuspected twists that change the whole context and always ends on a cliffhanger. Everyone that has watched from ep1 to ep100 would all agree that they have cried at least once.... the actors are so talented! i LOVE this show so much and i hope there will be a sequel as when the last episode ends you just want to watch it all over again."
A third chimed in with high praise: "Jane the Virgin is honestly the best show I have ever watched. It is full of suspense, love, happiness, heartbreak, sadness, astonishment, and so much more. Jane's experiences are so relatable and understandable, which make the show really enjoyable. The plot twists and unexpected climax points are absolutely incredible, making the show addictive."
Fans were understandably gutted when Jane the Virgin concluded in 2019, and despite the absence of news regarding a revival, Justin, who played Rafael, speculated about the future of his and Gina's character Jane in an E! News interview.
"I think somewhere enjoying their life, probably dealing with some sort of telenovela drama," he mused, considering the possibility of them parenting a teenage Mateo.
"He's probably 14 or 15 years old - so they're, they're dealing with that. I can only imagine what that's like."

In envisioning a blissful outcome, he concluded: "I think they're very much in love."
Gina fondly reminisced about her time portraying Jane over five seasons, expressing deep affection for the character to Vanity Fair in 2019.
"Jane is the love of my life," she said. "This experience was."
She continued: "It's just such a hard thing to express what Jane has done, not only for me and my career and making my dreams come true, which could be enough because it's absolutely everything.

The way it helped me grow as an actor, as an artist. The way it gave me a new career in directing. It taught me how to tell stories in a bigger way. It's so hard to express."
